It was after doing a case study of a floating neighborhood in Amsterdam for her thesis work that she truly realized the vulnerability of French Polynesian islands in the face of climate change and sea level rise. She continued her research on this subject for her thesis by working on a feasibility study for a floating architecture project in French Polynesia, which will lead to a prototype of a floating facility in the bay of Paopao in Moorea. The preservation of the environment and also the involvement of Polynesian culture in this region threatened by sea level rise, are central to Lenick’s values and she aims to i...

Huahine Travel Guide, Huahine Resorts, Tourist attraction in Huahine Island, French Polynesia Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube Huahine is an island located among the Society Islands, in French Polynesia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean. It is part of the Leeward Islands group (Îles sous le Vent). The island has a population of about 6,300. Tourist attraction Huahine Island, French Polynesia trip ============================================= One of the famous attractions on Huahine is a bridge that crosses over a stream with 0.9 m - 1.8 m long eels. These eels are deemed sacred by the locals, by local mythology. While viewing these slithering creatures, tourists can buy a can of mackerel and feed the eels. The Fa'ahia archaeological site in the north of the island has revealed subfossil remains of several species of extinct birds exterminated by the earliest Polynesian colonists of the island. Huahine Island, French Polynesia Map https://goo.gl/EEJBIk Huahine is immaculately tropical and effortlessly Polynesian. Lush and scarcely developed, this is an island to visit for extreme calm, communing with nature and a genuine taste of culture. There are plenty of opportunities for diving, surfing, snorkelling, exploring top-notch archaeological sites and horse riding, but the beauty of this place is just how easy it is to relax and do very little at all. The days go by, your skin gets a little darker and your smile a little wider. Huahine feels like one island, but in fact it's two, connected by a short bridge. Huahine Nui (Big Huahine), to the north, is home to the bustling little village of Fare and most of the main tourist and administrative facilities. Rugged and isolated Huahine Iti (Little Huahine), to the south, offers the islands’ best beaches, azure lagoons and a serene, get-away-from-it-all atmosphere. Geography =========== Huahine measures 16 km (10 mi) in length, with a maximum width of 13 km (8 mi). It is made up of two main islands surrounded by a fringing coral reef with several islets, or motu. Huahine Nui (Big Huahine) lies to the north and Huahine Iti (Little Huahine) to the south. The two islands are separated by a few hundred yards of water and joined by a sandspit at low tide. A small bridge was built to connect Huahine Nui and Huahine Iti. In the northwest of Huahine Nui lies a 375 hectares (926.65 acres) brackish lake known as Lac Fauna Nui (Lac Maeva). This lake is all that remains of the ancient atoll lagoon. Air transportation is available via Huahine airport, located on the northern shore of Huahine Nui. Lenick obtained her scientific baccalaureate in 2010, in Tahiti and left for France where she entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et de Paysage de Bordeaux. The preservation of the environment and also the involvement of Polynesian culture in this region threatened by sea level rise, are central to Lenick’s values and she aims to invest her energy in this field in the near future. _____________________ For more information, visit https://seasteading.org To support the project, go to https://seasteading.org/donate Buy the book "Seasteading: How Floating Nations Will Restore the Environment, Enrich the Poor, Cure the Sick, and Liberate Humanity from Politicians" https://www.seasteading.org/book/ Learn more about the company building the first Seastead at Blue Frontiers: https://www.blue-frontiers.com Follow us on social media. E.B. GO Vision Media Moorea Feeding & Petting Stingrays & Swimming with Black Tipped Reef Sharks in Tahiti. Lots of fun, Black Tipped Reef Sharks hanging around, pretty big ones, looking for some scraps to eat, hopefully not people. The stingrays get pretty big but they know the drill are know when they hear the boat engines it is lunch time. While staying on the island of Moorea the variety of activities range from scuba diving to four-wheeling, from relaxing on the beach to hiking in the jungles, from visiting Mt. Belvedere to going sport fishing or how about diving for really big sharks or looking for whales, which are prevalent in the area. Moorea is different than other island, such as Bora Bora, in that one can drive around the island, find reasonably priced restaurants for lunch or dinner or pick supplies at local market. In the other islands eating and drinking at the hotel or resort are the only option, thus making it vital to pre-pay for a meal plan to save money up front. In French Polynesia one can also visit atolls, such as Rangiroa, which are basically a thin circle of land surround a huge or medium sized lagoons that are calm and beautiful. The whole island of Tahiti can fit in the lagoon of Rangiroa and the diversity of marine wildlife is off-the-charts fantastic. For more go to www.EBGOinc.com.
